Cooking by Colors

23. January 2024

Since the beginning of the year, Sarah Henke and Christian Eckhardt from the Lemabri Restaurant have been cooking for the EPGlinos. The menu features creative, balanced, and high-quality fresh cuisine: What’s behind it, what’s on the plate in the children’s bistro, and what are their takeaways from the first few weeks?

In December 2023, Sarah Henke and Christian Eckhardt opened the Lemabri Restaurant in the same building as our daycare in Boppard-Buchholz. Both are Michelin-starred chefs with a great passion and family connection, and since this year, they have been cooking for the EPGlinos.

“Sarah and Christian, what was actually your favorite food as a child?” We asked the two star chefs in our interview with them last summer. “My favorite food was always the goose roast at my grandmother’s with red cabbage and dumplings,” Christian recalls immediately. “As a chef, I know it might not have been the perfect goose, but for me, it was just the most beautiful experience associated with the family coming together, all of us sitting at one table.” For Sarah, it was her grandmother’s pasta casserole. The memories and emotions they associate with these dishes are what make food so exciting for them. At the EPGlinos, they now create beautiful dining experiences and memories for children.

What’s there to try in the children’s bistro?
Regional cuisine, children’s favorite dishes, a variety of vegetables, international cuisine, or cooking by colors, like today: Yellow! 🟡
Stuffed Yellow Zucchini with Couscous, Pineapple, and Yellow Bell Pepper Sauce – each day of the week features a different exciting theme on the menu!

How were the first weeks for Sarah and Christian?
“The first two weeks were very educational!” Sarah and Christian tell us, “Classics, like pancakes with applesauce, are of course a big hit with the little ones! It’s very exciting to be part of the journey.” On days with more creative vegetable dishes, they definitely also notice what favorites are, and what doesn’t go over so well. “But we find that perfectly okay. For us, it’s just like the children, a development.” After each week, they get feedback from the children: “we also find that very important, so that it’s fun for both sides. We’re already looking forward to seeing how the next dishes are received by the children!”

We wish everyone a good appetite, lots of fun discovering and trying out, and many more beautiful shared dining experiences!
